What If We All Stopped to Look at Everything With Wonder?

During a typical morning moment of procrastination (because, ugh, working on this book chapter is work!), I stumbled across this article in the New Yorker, about seeing the wonder in world and noticing that “inanimate” objects actually and truly have agency. Maybe not intentional agency, but, nonetheless, all things are woven into the great mesh of the environment and they have both tangible and intangible effects on it–and on us, the people living within it.

An orange butterfly sits in the middle of a bright orange hibiscus flower. Butterfly and flower are almost the same colour.

It’s definitely worth the read (and this advice is coming to you from someone who is normally extremely allergic to philosophy and is frustrated by the people in their life increasingly leaning toward hoarding as they age and lose agency over their own lives).
