If you can find it in your hearts and wallets to support us financially through a Patreon subscription or PayPal donation, that would go a long way towards helping us to keep going. We want to keep bringing our listeners interesting solarpunk discussions and interviews with the people who are doing solarpunk in the present. It’s rough out there for anyone valuing the environment, social justice, compassion, or even just basic human decency, and we want to keep doing our part to keep hope alive. We want to broaden the imagination of what it’s possible to do to contribute to a better world, no matter who you are, where you live, or what life stage you’re at.
Solarpunk Presents is a two-woman project run from Canada and Jamaica. We don’t have ads or sponsorships or get money from Big Solarpunk (though it would be hilarious and terrible if such a thing existed). We are getting by on your support and the money from our own pockets, and investing the time and energy into this podcast when capitalism is telling us we would be much better off spending it on earning a wage to keep the machine running.
Your money goes straight towards supporting the livelihoods of Aleya and Ariel, enabling them to keep producing the informative and fun solarpunk content on this podcast. We are also sending roughly 10% of the money we earn to Trees.org, which helps to offset the carbon generated by the technologies we use to produce our episodes and host our content.
Those in financial straits, we see you, too. It’s real rough out there; when push comes to shove, we have to prioritize our own survival within the system. If you want to support our show and solarpunk in general but you just can’t monetarily, that is totally fine, but we would ask you to help us out by doing the following:
- Write us a review on your podcatcher of choice – they go a long way to encouraging us and giving us good ideas for future episodes and guests, plus bumping our visibility so we can reach out to more solarpunks like yourselves.
- Share an episode you particularly liked with a friend; word of mouth recommendations are so important in our current sea of media.
